Rydell Chevrolet was founded by Leonard Rydell (1913-2000) who started in the car business in the 1940's in Montgomery, Minnesota. In 1954, at Chevrolet's request, he moved to Grand Forks, North Dakota to operate the Chevrolet dealership. Leonard had many strongly held business and personal philosophies that served him well. In 1976, Leonard sold the business to his son, Wes. Under Wes' direction, Rydell Chevrolet converted to the one price, no hassle, no haggle pricing policy that is followed today. In subsequent years, Rydell Chevrolet added Cadillac, GMC, and Buick franchises to their lineup in Grand Forks.

We purchased a 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 pickup from RydellChevrolet last week. We worked with Kody Schlenvogt and he was such a nice sales person, he listened to what we were looking for, and did not pressure us in anything. He gave us time to think about each vehicle we were looking at. We had to call him a few times and he was always helpful and courteous, always did what he could to help us. We would recommend him to anyone looking for a vehicle at Rydells.

Terrible customer service

We wanted to upgrade from our 2010 GMC Sierra to a bigger motor & newer truck. Rydell had a 2016 GMC Sierra Denali with 49,601 miles. Just what we were looking for. We should have known better than to buy the truck from the beginning. We questioned Mike Menard why it rode so rough, he didn’t know. He looked at springs & said it was because of the new springs. We agreed to purchase, after paperwork was signed, the truck was so called detailed. Horrible job! White wax all over the black pick up. We asked to clean it up, they took it back to clean, came back again with wax on it. Sent it back again & finally right. Within 2 days of ownership, the truck started shaking. We felt it was the transmission. Rydell had a 7 day return, which we wanted. They asked if service could look at it & said it needed different transmission fluid. Another mistake, we believed them & took the truck home. Month later the heating fan was very loud. We took the truck to a gm dealership that was closer to us(Rydell is 150 miles from us). They fixed fan. 3 months after owning the truck, cylinder 5-broken intake valve spring. Paid $434 to local gm dealership to fix. 7 1/2 months after owing truck the valve broke on #7 cylinder. Head was damaged. We needed a new motor. 2 estimates that were $10,000. The day it happened,we were 150 miles from home with travel trailer. $300 for tows. We called Rydell explained what happened. Told us they were sorry & Cathy from guest relations would call. Didn’t return our call on that Friday. We wanted to return the truck for a trade on another. We called again Saturday & told them what we wanted, if nothing else, some help with the costs. Told again, we had to talk to Cathy. I asked to talk to a manger, we had to talk to Cathy. Cathy called Monday(she said she was off Friday & Saturday). Her immediate response was since we didn’t buy the extended warranty, there was nothing they could do. She kept repeating this. She couldn’t even say here is a $100 gas card,come in & we can see about a trade or help us out on a trade. We had the truck 7 months. Another dealership took it on trade sight unseen for a 2020 Dodge Ram. We lost $16,000 on this truck in 7 months.

If I could give zero stars I would.

If I could give zero stars I would. Went in for an oil change.....and that was it.....literally.Got out of the car, went into the waiting room, 20 or so min....later he whistled at me like I'm a puppy are something, I walked over to him and he said your ready to go.On the report, they did not check any of the air filters ( cabin or air ) no windows cleaned, no brakes checked including the reservior. I thought they were to show you that stuff.What did I pay for??????? I have called twice and left messages with no return call. Hopefully they changed my oil and filted, cause thats all about hopefully they did. So please, don't tell me to contact you directly because I did and you did NOT call back !

If you do outside finance they refuse to sell to you...

If you do outside finance they refuse to sell to you again I had to find certain vehicles to work for me and always have worked close with my banker and Rydell’s didn’t like that and now refuses to sell to me again which is reprehensible to treat some like that they were all nicey nice until sale was finished and then when we looked for a vehicle for my wife no one would return calls or anything so we made an inquiry with my wife’s name and boom a call then their so called customer service manager got very rude saying I was trying to do fake leads to buy a car when in reality we just wanted to buy a car and get help don’t waste your time with these people if you do your own financing and look at more then one car you will get aggressive push back

A true test of a car dealership is not how happy they are when they are taking your money. It's how they treat you when you have a problem with your new car. And rydell fails miserably.

In the fall of 2020, we ordered and purchased a brand new 2021 GMC Sierra AT4 through Rydell. We had the pleasure of working with salesman Casper Bach. He was by far the most friendly and outgoing guy we have ever dealt with when purchasing a vehicle. Casper always answered any questions we had and made sure we had everything we needed. Casper is very professional and has thee best customer service hands down. Fast forward 1.5 months...we just purchased another vehicle from Casper at Rydell. He was phenomenal!
