Ross, father of Garland Ross, purchasing agent for The St. Joseph and Gazette, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon at the home of his son and daughterin-law, Mr. and Mrs. John Ross, Bethany, with whom he had lived for about five years. He was 86 years old.

A native of Harrison county, Mr. Ross, a retired farmer, had farmed in the Mount Moriah, area most of his life. In addition to his two sons, survivors include two grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grand. children. His wife, Mrs.

Elizabeth Ross, died several years ago. The body is at the Stoklasa mortuary at Cainsville, Mo. Services will be at 2 Thursday at Mount Moriah Methodist Church, of which he was a member. Interment will be at the Lloyd cemetery. Harry D.

Cuzzort Dies at Age 71 Mrs. Nona Lasley, 208 North 18th street, has received word of the death of her brother, Harry D. Cuzzort, 71, at the veterans hospital at San Bernardino, Cal. He had been in failing health for about three years. A native of St.

Joseph, Mr. Cuzzort was a baker, a trade he learned while serving in World War I. At the close of the war he went to California to live. -While living here he joined Savannah Avenue Baptist Church. In addition to his sister, survivors include his wife, Mrs.

Ethel B. Cuzzort, of the home, 12404- Clinton street, El Monte, and one son, Harry Gene Cuzzort, St. Joseph. Parker Services Services for Mrs. Sarah E.

Parker, 87, Agency, will be at 2:30 Wednesday in the chapel of the Heaton-Bowman mortuary. The Rev. Hugh Berry will officiate, and interment will be at Agency Mrs. Parker, the widow of William Parker, died Monday afternoon at a hospital here. A native of St.

AD 8-4438 -St. Joseph, News-Press, City Awaiting Federal Letter on Urban Plan City officials were informed today that the official letter of the federal department of urban development concerning St. Joseph's workable program is in the mails. Approval of the program. is necessary before the city can participate in urban renewal fund allocations.

Lorein A. Dunham, city planning director, was told by officials of the federal agency Fort Worth, Texas, this mornthat the letter had been mailed. City Administrator Barrett H. Jones said the city had been told verbally of most changes which would be required and the work of bringing the program into conformity with federal regulations would require a minimum amount of time. State Men to Be Survey 'Students' Milford Plummer and James Connley of the state division of health are slated to become "students" in the current city survey of communicable disease immunization. Deputies Use Neat Trick to Capture Dog Sheriff's Deputies Arthur Pinzino and Raymond Baker early this morning used a trick to catch a 60-pound German shepherd dog which reportedly had frightened residents on rural route No. 6. A complaint about the dog was received by the sheriff at 4:12 m. Residents said the dog would not let them enter their cars. The dog was dragging a chain which was attacked to its collar.

Deputies Pinzino and Baker found the dog, used the squad car to chase it into a driveway and then stopped with a car wheel on the chain, holding the dog. The dog was taken to Harve Wheeler's home on rural route No. 6, the deputies stated in their report. Joe Frye, 14, was admitted to Children's Mercy Hospital. Another resident of the house, Joe Barajas, said the first Molotov co*cktail bomb was thrown from a passing car and hit the side of the house, Barajas extinguished it.

Thirty minutes later Barajas said he heard two persons talking outside the house and one said, "Light it and throw it in." Then the second bomb crashed through the window.
