SHORT TERM FORECAST
TONIGHT: A few lingering showers and thunderstorm then clearing out. Low: 65
TOMORROW: Mostly sunny and seasonal. High: 85
TOMORROW NIGHT: Mostly clear skies and cooler. Low: 58.
FORECAST SUMMARY
If you missed the heat these past few days, enjoy today. If you don’t like the heat, hang on for a few more hours.
A cold front will be moving through later this evening bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms. A few storms might be strong to severe this evening with damaging winds being the primary hazard.
But once the cold front moves through, a cooler and dryer air mass will be in place over the region for the rest of the week.
Today is the hottest day of the forecast period with highs in the low 90s. Once the cold front moves through, high pressure settles over the region and keeps the rest of the work week dry.
Tomorrow and Friday will be cooler than today with highs in the low to mid 80s.
Temperatures start to warm back up a little over the weekend with highs in the mid to upper 80s both weekend days.
Another cold front will move through Saturday evening bringing the usual summertime showers and thunderstorms along with it.
High pressure settles over the region once again to start the new work week keeping us mostly dry. Temperatures cool back to average (low 80s) next week.
The heat will start to creep up just in time for the Fourth of July and the following weekend with some possible 90s for a day or two.
DETAILED FORECAST
TONIGHT
Some scattered showers and thunderstorms move through the area. Some of those storms could be severe, as the entire area is at a slight (level 2 out of 5) risk of severe weather. The greatest threats look to be wind and hail.
The hit-or-miss storms will take us into about sunset. Then another round of showers will move through late night through midnight or so.
The storms then clear out overnight.
Lows will be in the mid 60s.
THURSDAY
Clouds will linger with some fog in the morning. We'll start fairly warm, around 70 degrees or so, but we won't grow as much as the last couple of days. Clouds break for mostly sunny skies in the afternoon and highs in the mid 80s with low humidity.
FRIDAY
Mostly sunny skies to wrap up the work week with some clouds rolling in later. Highs will be in the low to mid 80s.
WEEKEND
Temperatures creep back up into the high 80s again for the weekend. A cold front will move through late Saturday evening into early Sunday morning bringing showers and storms along with it. The rest of the day on Sunday looks dry though to end the weekend.
