C Hoare & Co
, the UKâs oldest privately-owned bank, has appointed Abigail Malortie as its newest partner.
Malortie (pictured) is a member of the tenth generation of the Hoare family and will become the 51st partner in the bankâs history.
Malortie joined C Hoare & Co in December 2020 and has served in roles within the product, trusts and estates, risk, finance and treasury teams. In particular, she was instrumental in embedding the bankâs purpose (to be "good bankers and good citizens") within the business.
Malortie brings a wide range of experience from her career prior to joining the bank. This includes working as a strategy consultant in the private sector, and in Whitehall as a strategy advisor. Malortie also has significant experience in the charitable sector, where she co-founded an educational charity, the Centre for London. She is also a qualified lawyer.
Square Mile
Square Mile Investment Consulting and Research has appointed Louise Babin as a senior investment research analyst to boost its research and consulting team.
Babin, who has 20 yearsâ experience of fund research and portfolio management spanning all asset classes, will have particular responsibility for analysingfixed income strategies.
Babin previously worked for Morningstar as a senior manager research analyst, focusing on fixed income, global macro and alternative and absolute return strategies. A voting member of the firmâs EMEA and global ratings committees, she also collaborated with the manager selection and investment management teams to provide consultancy to external clients.
Before Morningstar, Babin worked at Aviva Investors, where, as a senior multi-manager analyst, she provided recommendations to multi-manager clients and internal investment teams across UK equities, high yield debt, strategic fixed income and multi-asset strategies. Prior to this, she was a senior collectives analyst and portfolio manager at Charles Stanley, advising internal investment managers as well as having responsibility for portfolio management. Earlier roles include research analyst at Buck Consultants; senior investment manager at GHC Capital Markets and portfolio and fund manager at Berkeley Fund Managers.

The company employs 49 professionals across its research, investment teams and broader operations.
Mishcon de Reya
Mishcon de Reya has appointed a partner in the family team, Kate Clark, as head of family in Mishcon Private, effective from 1 January 2024.
Clark will be supported by Claire Yorke, who will becomefinance partner for the team. Clark and Yorke are part of the next generation of leaders and bring a wealth of experience as well as a pragmatic approach to leadership, the firm said in a statement. The firm added that Clark's forward-thinking approach and dedication to her clients, and her ability to find resolutions out of court, make her a key part of the firm's leadership. Clark, who joined the firm in 2014, became a partner in 2021.
A specialist in high net worth divorces and in all aspects of family law, Clark has a particular emphasis on high-value financial disputes. Her work often involves complex offshore structures, trusts, and business interests. In addition to her broad expertise, Clark, who has experience in dealing with high conflict children cases, is the head of the firm's high conflict complex children law group. Clark is also experienced in advising on pre- and post-marital agreements as well as cohabitation agreements.
Clarkâs hire follows the recent appointments of two partners to boost the firmâs offering. The firm has also appointed partners in Asia: Timothy Burns and Wei Zhang, who provide expert US tax and wealth planning for high net worth clients in Asia, joined in November 2023 from Withers where they were partners.
GSB
Wealth manager GSB has appointed Hannah Gribbin, Theresa Todd and Rebecca Simpson, continuing the expansion of its regional propositions bybringing in âthe best in the industry,â the firm said in a recent statement.
Gribbin, who has been appointed as group CFO, has had an extensive career in finance, most recently at Clyde & Co in Dubai, and previously at KPMG for over 10 years.
Todd is joining as private client manager. Previously, she worked at Leagold Miller, supporting a large advisory team.
Simpson, who has joined as executive assistant to the board, was previously withMcKinsey in London, where she worked with senior partners.
All three new hires will be based in Dubai.
