Can anyone send money to a greenlight account?
While you can send money to your child from your Parent app, we know that friends and family may also want (or need) to contribute to your child's account. An easy way to do this is to share your child's pay link, or to help them share it on their own.
Yes! Check out pay link. With a Greenlight pay link, friends and family can safely and securely contribute money directly to a Greenlight child's account using their card, Apple Pay, or Google pay. Learn more about sending money with pay link here.
At the moment you cannot use an ATM to deposit cash onto your child's card. The Greenlight Card can be loaded by connecting your bank account or debit card to the Greenlight app and then making an instant transfer to your Greenlight Parent's Wallet.
- Click on the 'Add $' button from the Parent Dashboard or from the Parent Settings screen.
- Choose the desired amount you want to add, or you can choose to manually enter your own amount by tapping on 'Other'.
- Click "Move Money" and your funds will be transferred.
ACH transfers can not go through due to several reasons. ACH transfers can take up to 1-3 business days for the transfer to initiate and show up in your Greenlight Account. These reasons can include insufficient funds in your bank account, bank account status, and when the receivers do not authorize the transaction.
Your second parent/adult can add their own funding source.
The second parent/adult can add a separate bank account or debit card as a funding source. During this process, they will be required to verify their identity with their address and last 4 digits of their SSN.
Open your Greenlight app and navigate to your credit homepage by clicking on the Family Cash Card tile in your parent dashboard. Click on the gear icon in the top right corner of your card. If you'd like to add an approver or a child as an authorized user, select them from the list, then confirm their name and DOB.

Can kids transfer money on Greenlight?
Open your Greenlight app and navigate to your Child's Dashboard. Tap “Edit profile” in the top right corner. Scroll to the bottom of your child's Settings and toggle “Money transfers" settings to ON.
Yes. You may use a Greenlight card at any ATMs that have a Mastercard, Visa Interlink, or Maestro logo. Greenlight won't charge you any ATM fees, but it also won't reimburse you if you're charged by the ATM provider.
With Greenlight, there's no age requirement to get a debit card if your parent or guardian signs up. If you're the parent on the account, you can add your child as an authorized user with their own debit card. As a parent, you'll have the ability to set spending limits, enact parental controls, and monitor the account.
Transfers from your debit card to your Greenlight account will show up and be available immediately. Depending on your history with Greenlight you may be eligible for instant funding. If you are not in instant funding status, ACH transfers from your bank account will generally be available in 1-3 business days.
You can use your Greenlight Card everywhere Mastercard is accepted, online and in store (as long as your parents approve). However, for privacy and security of our customers, Greenlight cards will not be accepted for the following transactions: Wires or money orders. Security brokers or deals.

We currently do not accept direct deposit from the State or Federal Government (including Social Security payments, federal tax refunds, state tax refunds, child support, etc.) or from Paypal, Venmo, Apple Cash, etc. Kids under 13 will need a parent to access their account number.

Adding your children: You can add up to 5 kids to your account. Each child you add will automatically get their own Greenlight debit card. You can also upgrade any of your kids to a Custom Card after you finish signing up.
While kids can log in with their phone number, kids without a phone can log in with a username and password set up in-app by their parent. After the app is downloaded onto your child's device, you'll just need to enable their app access.
Is a Greenlight account a checking or savings account?

The maximum daily amount that can be withdrawn per card is $100 per rolling 24 hour period, and the monthly maximum amount that can be withdrawn per family is $500 per rolling 30 day period. Most ATMs charge a withdrawal fee - these fees are charged, per withdrawal, by the banks that operate the ATMs.
