DATE SEVERE WEATHER INFORMATION AS WELL. >> SOME LAND IN ROGERS COULD SOON BE TURNING INTO CAVE SPRINGS, AND SOME PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN THE SCISSORTAIL NEIGHBORHOOD AREN’T HAPPY ABOUT THE POTENTIAL CHANGE. SO THE PROPOSED CHANGE WOULD GIVE 252 ACRES IN CAVE SPRINGS TO ROGERS AND 529 ACRES IN ROGERS TO CAVE SPRINGS. >> AND BECAUSE OF THAT, WE TALKED TO PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN THE AREA AGAIN, WHO AREN’T HAPPY ABOUT THIS CHANGE. WE’LL GO AHEAD AND GET TO 40/29’S JACOB MURPHY AND JACOB, THE ROGERS MAYOR, SAID THAT THIS WOULD STREAMLINE ROAD MAINTENANCE AND UTILITY SERVICES. AND YOU ARE LIVE FOR US TONIGHT. AFTER SPEAKING WITH MEMBERS OF THE PUBLIC BEFORE THE MEETING. YEAH, BRANDON AND ALLISON AND THAT SCISSORTAIL NEIGHBORHOOD YOU GUYS WERE TALKING ABOUT THAT’S CURRENTLY IN ROGERS AND COULD BE MOVING OVER TO CAVE SPRINGS. >> I SPOKE WITH ONE FAMILY THAT LIVES IN THAT NEIGHBORHOOD. THEY’VE BEEN THERE FOR EIGHT MONTHS. THEY’RE ALREADY THINKING ABOUT MOVING BECAUSE THEY WANT ONE GOAL TO KEEP THEIR SON SAFE. WE SHOULDN’T BE TRADED LIKE CATTLE TO ANOTHER CITY. ANGIE ZUMWALT IS ONE OF SEVERAL UPSET PEOPLE IN THE SCISSORTAIL NEIGHBORHOOD. >> IT IS REALLY EMOTIONAL. UM, IT HAS KEPT US UP A LOT, WHICH IS CURRENTLY IN ROGERS. >> WE’VE CHOSEN TO LIVE WHERE WE LIVE FOR A REASON WITH THE AMENITIES THAT WE SIGNED UP FOR AND PAID FOR, THE POTENTIAL LAND SWAP WOULD CHANGE ROGERS TO CAVE SPRINGS. >> IT IMPACTS ALL OF US. NOT JUST ME, NOT JUST MY SON ANGIE’S SON, BROOKS SAYS. >> A BIG REASON HER FAMILY MOVED TO SCISSORTAIL. >> MY SON HAS SPECIAL NEEDS AND AND HE REQUIRES A LOT OF MEDICAL ATTENTION AND HAS HAD TO SEEK A LOT OF MEDICAL CARE THROUGHOUT HIS TEN SHORT YEARS BECAUSE OF LOCATION. THE THING THAT ATTRACTED US THE MOST WAS THE PROXIMITY TO THE FIRE STATION AND THE PARAMEDIC THERE, AND PROXIMITY TIME IS CRITICAL NOW THAT PROXIMITY COULD TURN TO DISTANCE. WE’RE TALKING ABOUT SWITCHING FIRE STATIONS AND PARAMEDICS THAT ARE LOCATED 1.7 MILES AWAY VERSUS 3.1 MILES AWAY FOR THIS FAMILY, EVERY SECOND MATTERS. MY SON IS MOSTLY NONVERBAL, SO HE DOESN’T TALK OR COMMUNICATE HARDLY AT ALL. >> AND THOSE SECONDS ARE TICKING. >> THERE’S BEEN A LOT OF TEARS SHED, UM, A LOT OF HARD CONVERSATIONS MEANS A LOT. A LOT OF WHAT IFS. UM, A LOT OF, UM, SLEEPLESS NIGHTS AND STRESS FOR THE CITY COUNCIL VOTE ON THE LAND SWAP NEXT WEEK. IT COULD BE ANYONE. IT COULD BE OUR VERY NEXT DOOR NEIGHBOR. IT COULD BE, UM, ANY ONE ELSE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD THAT HAS AN EMERGENCY OR A CRITICAL CRISIS WHERE SECONDS MATTER. >> TONIGHT WAS THE LAST PUBLIC MEETING BEFORE BOTH CITY COUNCILS WILL HAVE THE FINAL VOTE ON WHETHER OR NOT THAT LAND SWAP GOES THROUGH NEXT WEEK, LIVE I

The city of Cave Springs held a public comment meeting on Tuesday night to hear concerns regarding a potential land swap. The proposed swap would be giving 252 acres of land of Cave Springs to Rogers and 529 acres of Rogers to Cave Springs. One of the biggest neighborhoods affected is the Scissortail subdivision, which currently sits in Rogers city limits. If the land swap goes through, the houses will then be in Cave Springs. “We've chosen to live where we live for a reason with the amenities that we signed up for and paid for," Scissortail resident Angie Zumwalt said. "We shouldn't be traded like cattle to another city.”Zumwalt and her husband have a 10-year-old son, who has special needs and requires extra medical attention and care. “The thing that attracted us the most was the proximity to the fire station and the paramedics there," Zumwalt said. If the land swap becomes official, the family will be further away from the closest paramedic's office. “It could be anyone, it could be our very next-door neighbor, it could be anyone else in the neighborhood that has an emergency or critical crisis where seconds matter," Zumwalt said. The Rogers and Cave Springs city councils will have the final votes on the land swap next week.
